Vancouver Hosts Sessions on Proposed Bridge Shelter

Staff Report / Vancouverlocal.org

The City of Vancouver is inviting residents to learn about a proposed bridge shelter aimed at addressing homelessness. Two informational sessions will be held for community members to ask questions and provide feedback.

The first session is scheduled for Saturday, November 16, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Walnut Grove Elementary School, located at 6103 N.E. 72nd Ave., Vancouver. The second session will take place on Tuesday, November 19, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. via Zoom. Those interested in attending the Zoom session must RSVP to receive a meeting link.

This proposed bridge shelter is part of an emergency action plan declared by the city in 2023 in response to homelessness issues. The shelter will be managed around the clock by a non-profit organization and will offer behavioral health and other supportive services to residents.
